Morehei Ueshiba,  O Sensei

"The secret of budo is not found in forms. Mastery is in freedom of the heart"

Aikido is a modern Japanese form of self defense based on the principle of peaceful resolution of conflict. In Aikido, any incoming force or “attack” is redirected into pins, safe holds or falls via circular motions, using the energy and momentum of the opponent instead of going against it. Through efficient blending movements, aggression is neutralized.

Since Aikido is based on utilizing inner, rather than physical strength, it is suitable for people of all ages, body types and walks of life.  Aikido is, at its heart, a way of self-improvement and personal growth.
